A free online system automating many translation project management processes, such as:
When a translator uploads a completed translation, the
proofreader is automatically notified of this by email so that they can
download it and start working.
When the proofreader is finished with their task, they
upload it and the next person in the process, such as a vettor, is informed
in the same manner, can download the file and start working. If you do not
have your own vettor (responsible for comparing the proofread translation
against the source text to make sure nothing is missing and that the
formatting is correct), you can use ours, located on various time zones to
ensure that your project is always finished as quickly as possible. You can
also use our own project managers, also spread out over several time zones.
There is a good overview listing all the project files
and the state of each (translated, translated and proofread, translated and
proofread and vetted, etc.)
You can set who is able to communicate with whom,
always in an anonymous manner (no last names or contact info are revealed),
such that a proofreader, vettor or project manager can communicate directly
with the translator, for example. You will be able to download all the
communication to check that no one is exchanging direct contact info, or
filters can be set up to prevent this.
Many more features are planned in the pipeline, as explained below.
Not quite ready yet, but if you'd like to beta test, email me below.
I hired a programmer to develop the above features for my own projects to help me manage them. Now I would like to develop the system further and eventually charge some fee, perhaps based on the number of words managed. In the meantime, you are welcome to use it for free. Feel free to write me an email concerning any development ideas.
Following is what I have planned for future development:
A sliding horizontal calendar showing the availability
of translators for larger projects. For example, when a translator is
expected to complete their assigned file, which is useful when using
translation memory. With translation memory, unless some online system is
being used, files are best created only when necessary, to take advantage of
as much translation memory as possible.
Save projects as templates so that can create new ones
based on it, to use the same translators and proofreaders, for example.
A free autoquote system for your customers as is used
here (my own translation agency). You can change the prices and language
combinations to match your own.
A preferences section where you can assign certain rights to certain people to upload project files, assign files to different translators, communication rights and much more!
You can learn about how it all works by checking out the help file.
